Professor David Brooksbank
Dean - Cardiff School of Management and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Enterprise)
I am currently Dean of the Cardiff School of Management and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Enterprise) responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the organisation. I was formerly the School's Associate Dean (Postgraduate Education & Enterprise) at the Cardiff School of Management, Cardiff Metropolitan University. The post at Cardiff Metropolitan University is based around the joint roles of developing the School in the area of entrepreneurship, coupled with building an income generating organisation around the subject.
I was formerly Professor of Enterprise & Small Business and Deputy Director of the University of Glamorgan Business School in South Wales and Director of the Welsh Enterprise Institute. There I led a team of thirty academics and project staff within the Department of Enterprise and Economic Development in the Business School. With over seventy academic publications in my areas of research interest, I am well known across the UK and Europe for my work amongst my peer group.
My research involves entrepreneurship, innovation and small firm development in Wales and comparisons with international benchmarks on enterprise development. My commercial consultancy work has included work on the production of the Entrepreneurship Action Plan for Wales (for the National Assembly), as well as economic development strategies for local and national agencies. I have has also been successful in attracting large amounts of funding for numerous EU projects focussed on developing a better understanding of enterprise and entrepreneurship, as well as a portfolio of undergraduate and Masters level qualifications in Entrepreneurship.
