Jacqui was appointed as Deputy Vice-Chancellor in August 2010 having served as the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Learning & Teaching) since 2003. Originally from Northumberland, Jacqui graduated in English from Lancaster University.
Jacqui's career in higher education has involved undertaking a number of roles, originally as a lecturer in English and subsequently as a Dean of Academic Affairs, and Head of School, before becoming Assistant Principal in Learning & Teaching. She has extensive experience of working as a QAA Reviewer, Higher Education Academy Accreditor, and as an independent Inspector of Schools. She has maintained a particular interest in quality assurance and enhancement, and has chaired many validations and reviews overseas, together with delivering staff development and consultancy activity at home and abroad.
Currently as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, she has responsibility for all learning and teaching strategy, including policy development, the portfolio of taught programmes, and the overall management of the academic schools. She has overall responsibility for quality assurance and enhancement, together with collaborative provision and overseas work of Cardiff Metropolitan University.
Throughout, emphasis is upon the quality of the learning experience of students and facilitating an ethos of student centred learning, closely linked to the demands of a modern curriculum which equips students to be globally aware and employable.
