David Price is Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Strategy & Performance), with responsibility for leading Cardiff Metropolitan University's strategic planning, performance management and associated frameworks. A member of the Vice-Chancellor's Board, David's role also encompasses responsibility for leading cross-cutting initiatives and change programmes, risk management, the University's Fee Plan, and representing the University externally.
Born in Denmark and raised in Sarawak, Fiji and Australia, David completed his school education in Somerset before reading History at the University of Sheffield. After completing a PGCE at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, he taught at secondary schools in Somerset and East Sussex.
Before joining Cardiff Metropolitan University in 1999, David's career in higher education encompassed working for two UK Funding Councils on policy issues associated with both research and teaching, in the process contributing to the national reviews of library provision, performance indicators and research assessment. He has subsequently held planning-related posts at three UK universities.
David has served as a member of the Higher Education Strategic Planners Association and acted as an advisor to JISC sponsored projects. The focus of his professional interest is on factors that lie at the interface of academic and financial imperatives, in particular the development and use of business intelligence, risk management, resource planning and performance systems.
