Study First Award 


Award description

The Study First award is designed to help with the day to day cost of studying at university. The package provides financial help toward accommodation, travel, food, books, photocopying, and other on-site expenses and is worth over £1,000 per year.

The award is given in all years of study*.

 

 

There are two versions of the award available:

 

1.       Study First Residential Package, includes:

  • A contribution to accommodation costs for those living in halls/ rented accommodation
  • A Free lunch package for each day of study
  • A free print and copying budget
  • An Amazon.co.uk voucher to help with book purchases

 

2.       Study First Non-Residential Package (for those living at home), includes:

  • A university and city bus pass for your whole year of study
  • A Free lunch package for each day of study
  • A free print and copying budget
  • An Amazon.co.uk voucher to help with book purchases

 

Please only apply for one scheme depending on your situation.

 

Eligibility

 

  • This award is open to Welsh Students living in designated Welsh Communities First postcodes*. You can use the following link to check if your postcode is listed in a Communities First area: Communities First Checker. (Data is provided by HEFCW: Higher Education Funding Council for Wales, use CTRL+F to search the file).
  • You must be studying a full time undergraduate programme starting in 2013
  • You must have a household income less than £42,600 (assessed through Student Finance Wales)*.
  • You must have Cardiff Met as your first choice university with UCAS


The deadline for submitting an application is 31st August 2013.
