DSA-QAG LogoThe Centre (previously UWIC Assessment Centre) was officially launched in August 2004 to carry out Study Skills and Technology Assessments (also called Needs Assessments) for students in receipt of a Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA) from their Funding Body.

Assessment Centre Cardiff Metropolitan University offers qualified and experienced assessors from various professional backgrounds who are able to provide comprehensive needs assessments for any student in receipt of DSA.

Our assessors are continually engaged with investigating new developments in assistive hardware and software to ensure that students are recommended the most up-to-date and appropriate support products.  They are also familiar with the demands of studying at higher education level and the transitions involved for students entering university.  They have a thorough understanding of issues in teaching and learning in higher education and use this knowledge to recommend the most effective and appropriate support package for the individual.

Our centre is fully equipped with assistive technology (both hardware and a vast range of software) and ergonomic equipment to ensure that anyone assessed here is provided with the exact support and equipment for their needs.  We believe this makes Assessment Centre Cardiff Metropolitan University an excellent choice to carry out needs assessments.

We offer professional needs assessments to any student in receipt of DSA, whether you live in the region and are planning on studying elsewhere, or whether you have come to the region to study.

We are members of the National Network of Assessment Centres
and are accredited by DSA Quality Assurance Group.
