Cardiff Metropolitan University is an excellent choice for Postgraduate Study. We pride ourselves in having a strong reputation in applied research and active engagement with business and industry.
Research undertaken by academic staff is invariably at the cutting edge of knowledge exploration, thus enriching the students' experience and their academic development. The University has five academic schools and the National Centre for Product Design & Development Research (PDR).
Whether you are looking for full or part-time study, we can offer you first-class taught courses and unique research opportunities.
PhD degrees are normally three years in length (full-time); MPhil degrees are usually one year full-time. However, many Schools offer the possibility of part-time study, typically over five years for a PhD. This may be suitable if you have to undertake your research around work or other commitments, and though it will take longer, the financial cost is generally similar and spread out over a longer period.
Professional Doctorate Programme
The Professional Doctorate Programme is part time and normally completed over a three to five year period. There is a research and taught component to this programme.
The Masters in Applied Professional Practice, which is essentially a work-based Masters research programme, is similar in nature to the Professional Doctorate. It is a part-time course normally two years in length and having a taught element, but also significant work-based research components.
