UWIC Procurement:

"To develop, implement and maintain an effective and robust procurement structure that ensures the timely supply of cost effective products and services that meet the needs and expectations of all users."

The UWIC Procurement department was created in 1996, and oversees the procurement activities on all five of UWIC's sites. We provide a wide range of functional and advisory services aimed at ensuring the achievement of value for money, the overall enhancement of UWIC's procurement activity and the maintenance of good contractual protection and effective expenditure processes.

UWIC views collaboration as a key element in the achievement of value for money, and actively pursues collaboration opportunities with other organisations and bodies. Of particular relevance to this objective are HEPCW and Value Wales (Procurement).

 Higher Education Purchasing Consortium Wales

UWIC is an active participant in the Higher Education Purchasing Consortium, Wales (HEPCW), with the Chairman of the consortium being UWIC's Director of Finance and UWIC's Head of Procurement being one of the Executive Management Group that oversees the operation of the consortium.  Value Wales (Procurement)

UWIC is also an active participant in and supporter of the Welsh Assembly Government's Value Wales (Procurement) (formerly the "Welsh Procurement Initiative"). This initiative is aimed at developing collaborative procurement across and within the various public sectors within Wales, with the intention of unlocking savings through better and more focussed procurement - those organisations making the savings will be able to retain them and use them to further develop their respective front-line services.
