Laura Evans
Assistant International Student Welfare Officer
I joined the International Office at UWIC in July 2008 as an Assistant International Student Welfare Officer / Administrator.
My role is to provide a welcoming first point of contact to International Students with welfare related queries such as accommodation, opening bank accounts, part time employment, health, homesickness and unfamiliar UK procedures. I also assist with the organisation relating to the Airport Welcome Service, Induction and social events.
Prior to joining UWIC I achieved a BA (Hons) in Cultural Studies and Sociology at the University of the West of England, Bristol. Upon graduating in 2007, I travelled extensively across Europe experiencing a vast array of different peoples and cultures. Both my degree and travelling experiences have given me the necessary skills to succeed in my role in the International Office.
I feel very privileged to be working in a role that enables me to meet lots of people from a variety of different cultural backgrounds.
