PLEASE NOTE: THE ACCOMMODATION BOOKING DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO AUGUST 16TH 2010.
How to book and what to choose
The International Office is very pleased to help you arrange your accommodation in Cardiff. Before you make your choice of where to live, you are advised to consider carefully the kind of accommodation you wish to live in when you come to Cardiff.
There are two types of accommodation available for students:
1. UWIC Halls of Residence
2. Privately rented accommodation
- Privately owned Halls of Residence
- Privately rented houses / flats / rooms
For further information about booking UWIC's accommodation and how to pay a deposit you will find details in the
International Student Pre-Departure Booklet, page 20, and also on the
Accommodation Booking Form. The price for a 40 week contract, September 2010-June 2010, is £3,480.00.
Please note that acommodation will be allocated on a first come first served basis, and will also be dependent on you giving us your confirmed flight information.
Students who do not want to stay in Halls of Residence, will be given help and guidance to find accommodation to rent privately. A Housing Event will be held on the weekend that you arrive. On arrival we will arrange for you to stay in a hotel which you will pay for. You must give us your arrival date otherwise this will not be booked for you.
Important - it is essential that you have access to a £500 deposit and a month's rent in advance (approximately £400) to secure privately rented accommodation at the Housing Event. It could take a few weeks to open a bank account, so bringing money in a secure form will assist you when organising accommodation. Do not bring large amounts of cash. Carry your money securely.
It is essential that you pre-book your accommodation. To do this please complete and return the Temporary Accommodation Booking Form.
