Design is increasingly acknowledged as a key element in the realisation of innovation, the commercialisation of technology and in supporting wider economic development policies and strategies – the great majority of developed economies, particularly in Europe and Asia, have some form of design policy or programme already in place.
The next generation of innovation policies at a European level will certainly highlight the potential for design in the development of not only manufactured products but also in both private and public sector services as well as in addressing wider societal issues. This has the potential to drive economic development policy, business support programmes and wider societal issues at a national and regional level.
Building on 15 years experience of the delivery of support programmes and leading networks in the UK and Europe, the IIDPS is an international centre of expertise for the development of design support programmes and related national & regional policy.
