CAMSTRAND Conference 2012 

Date: March 28th and 29th 2012

'Opportunities and Challenges of Integrating CAM'

The Complementary and Alternative Medicine Strategy for Research and Development (CAMSTRAND) conference is held annually. Its focus is on current CAM research, and its future direction. Held in Bristol in 2010, and Southampton in 2011, Cardiff Metropolitan University will host it in 2012.

The target audience for the conference will be researchers in the field, post-doctoral fellows, health policy makers, medical professionals interested in CAM or integrated health, and therapists / practitioners with an interest in research.

Day 1 (March 28th) will host two types of workshop. (£20)

  • The researcher’s workshop - aimed at those already active in CAM research will focus on :
    • “Strategies for creating a balanced view of CAM on the internet: The truth needs to be out there! “
  • The beginners’ workshop - aimed at those active in the therapeutic world who would like to become involved in research, and will introduce those new to research to the possibilities within the field.

A ‘Heads of CAM’ meeting will follow, - an opportunity to catch up on what is going on in the field of CAM research around the UK and abroad.

Cardiff Met will host the ‘Heads of CAM’ dinner on the evening of the 28th March – an opportunity to mingle and discuss possible collaborations. This will be held at the Cardiff School of Management hospitality suite. (£30)

Day 2 (March29th) – The main conference day (£65) will host a range of speakers from across the UK and beyond. Poster presentations will be held at the mid point of the conference proceedings. Our keynote speaker will be Dr Peter Mackereth of The Christie Hospital, Manchester.
