Research Interests:

My research involves exploring the transcriptional regulation of megakaryopoiesis.  Megakaryocytes are giant bone marrow cells which give rise to blood platelets and this production of platelets in the bone marrow needs to be tightly controlled. This is achieved by a complex mechanisms involving thrombopoietic (TPO) and various transcription factors and signalling pathways.  Some of the transcription factors involved in this process are still not known. We use a technique to grow megakaryocytes from stem cells and use molecular biology approaches to gain a better understanding of the process of megakaryocyte and platelet development.
