Chris has the benefit of 24 years social work experience, which enhances her teaching on the BSc (Hons) Social Work and Post Qualifying programmes at UWIC. For seven years she worked in an Adult Services setting prior to specializing in Mental Health for 5 years. The last 12 years of Chris’s social work career was spent in Emergency Duty Teams, where she undertook risk assessments of vulnerable adults and children in need of protection. Chris also undertook assessments of children in need and acted as Appropriate Adult for children and vulnerable adults within the Criminal Justice system. During this time Chris was also involved in the assessment of social work students and qualified staff undertaking post-qualifying awards. Chris’ extensive experience has enabled her to teach across disciplines, utilising her Law degree effectively, whilst continuously up-dating her knowledge within this field.

At UWIC, Chris is responsible for the Access, Selection and Allocation of students to the programme, both at the undergraduate and post qualifying levels. Chris is also responsible for coordinating the Post Qualifying programme, working in partnership with agencies to develop modules at level 6, with a view to developing future modules at level 7.
