Applied Social Sciences is the place to study if you are looking to begin, or further develop, a career in health, housing or social well being. The are incorporates health and social care, housing, social work and interprofessional studies to provide a range of courses from HNC/HND level to graduate and postgraduate courses or short course continuous professional development.
Strong employer and practitioner partnerships ensure that courses reflect current best practice and promote the employability of students successfully completing courses within the Applied Social Sciences. The majority of courses also carry recognised professional accreditation at qualifying, or post qualifying levels.
Applied Social Sciences is a leader in innovative professional education, for instance, developing the first professionally accredited undergraduate courses in Wales in supported housing and qualifying social work. The majority of staff have substantial practice experience and are active members of the relevant professional body. This expertise is used to engage in research and consultancy within the public, voluntary and private sectors.
