Postgraduate CPD Framework in Education 

What is it?

This is a flexible Master’s in Education programme that supports critical and rigorous continuing professional development. These Master’s in Education awards have been  developed after extensive consultation with employers, teachers, education professionals and students. There are several pathways offered within the programme.

Who is this programme aimed at?

The programme team aims to play a key role in supporting the continuing professional development of teachers and education professionals.

What will I get out of the programme?

Graduates from the programme have gone on to promotion in school management and leadership, curriculum leadership, positions within the schools’ advisory services, lecturing and research posts in higher education, and work with government education departments across the world.

What pathways could I study?

There are several pathways in the framework, including MA Education, MA Leadership and Management in Education, MA Professional Practice in Education, MA Professional Practice: Mentoring and Coaching in Education, MA Post Compulsory Education and Training (PCET) and MA in Youth and Community Work.

How does the assessment work?

Assessment is by coursework assignments equivalent to 9,000 words per 30 credit module throughout the taught element of the programme.

The assessments take a variety of forms including written reports of research, posters, learning journals, seminar presentations and journal style articles.

How long does it usually take?

3 years part-time or 1 year full-time.

Part-time: Typically, students study one 30 credit module each term and these are usually twilight sessions.

Full-time: Typically, students study two 30 credit modules each term and complete the dissertation component within a calendar year from enrolment.

Where will I study?

The programme is taught at the Cyncoed Campus.
