Cardiff Met's School of Education has over 2000 students supported by over 100 academic and administrative staff.
In 2001 the School of Education celebrated 50 years of Initial Teacher Education Training (ITET) provision in Cardiff and it remains the largest in Wales and one of the largest centres for ITET in the United Kingdom. It has established an enviable reputation for the quality of its provision that has been publicly recognised by Estyn through its inspection process.
Both the Department of Humanities and Department of Professional Development have excellent recruitment figures and their programmes have an increasing national and international reputation for excellence.

Literary Themed Horse Ride
 Dr Kate North and Porthcawl based writer Tom Anderson led a literary themed horse ride, in association with Literature Wales as part of their 2013 Literary Tourism series of events. Kate and Tom crossed the River Ogmore to explore the Merthyr Mawr sand dunes on horseback. Kate delivered talks on the concept of literary tourism and acclaimed writer Dannie Abse's time in Ogmore. Tom Anderson spoke about the sea and sense of place in his own writing. To mark his 90th year, the afternoon finished with an intimate reading and a Q&A session with Dannie Abse at the stunningly located Glamorgan Heritage Coast Centre. Kate introduced Dannie who read from his recent poetry collection and there was a lively Q&A session after.
