Cardiff Met's School of Education has over 2000 students supported by over 100 academic and administrative staff.
In 2001 the School of Education celebrated 50 years of Initial Teacher Education Training (ITET) provision in Cardiff and it remains the largest in Wales and one of the largest centres for ITET in the United Kingdom. It has established an enviable reputation for the quality of its provision that has been publicly recognised by Estyn through its inspection process.
Both the Department of Humanities and Department of Professional Development have excellent recruitment figures and their programmes have an increasing national and international reputation for excellence.

Women in Love: Jeff Wallace introduces BBC Radio 4 Extra serialisation
Jeff Wallace, Professor of English in the School of Education, introduces a serialisation of D.H. Lawrence’s classic novel Women in Love for BBC Radio 4 Extra over the coming week. A series of short interviews will be broadcast over the weekend, Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th January, and repeated alongside the serialisation itself, which runs from Monday 28th – Thursday 31st January. Jeff says: ‘I think Women in Love is Lawrence’s greatest novel, because its so full of a sense of urgency about what might be made of life after the First World War. Some of its central concerns – the post-industrial environment, for example, and its effects on our relationships with each other – are highly topical for us. The novel is also full of dialogue and therefore lends itself very well to radio treatment – this serial was first produced by the poet and writer Elaine Feinstein in the 1980s.’
