Cardiff Met's School of Education has over 1600 students supported by over 90 academic and administrative staff.
In 2001 the School of Education celebrated 50 years of Initial Teacher Education Training (ITET) provision in Cardiff and it remains the largest in Wales and one of the largest centres for ITET in the United Kingdom.
Both the Department of Humanities and Department of Professional Development have excellent recruitment figures and their programmes have an increasing national and international reputation for excellence.

PGCE students first in UK to be given Chess Teaching Course
Cardiff School of Education PGCE primary students were the first in the UK to undertake a chess course to give them the confidence to introduce chess to their classrooms.
Sarah and Timothy Kett of the Welsh Chess Union (WCU) and the Charity Chess in Schools and Communities (CSC) delivered the first course of its kind to PGCE primary students who were interested in setting up their own chess clubs in their future schools. read more
