Cardiff Metropolitan University is justifiably proud of all our graduates. An estimated 170,000 students have passed through Cardiff Met, UWIC or one of its Founding Institutions during our 135 year history. In fact, many of our alumni are "older than UWIC", remembering instead the good old days of Llandaff Tech or South Glamorgan Insitute. Cardiff School of Art has an illustrous history stretching back to 1865. Since that time there have been many different institutions which merged together, changed names and eventually became Cardiff Metropolitan on 1 November 2011:
  • University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UWIC) (1996 - 2011)
  • Cardiff Institute of Higher Education (1988 - 1996)
  • South Glamorgan Institute of Higher Education (1976 - 1988)
  • Cardiff College of Food Technology and Commerce (1971 - 1976)
  • Cardiff College of Education (1970 - 1976)
