Exploiting the potential of your local university means more than just recruiting graduates.  There are plenty of opportunities to work together to ensure that we are meeting your needs.  We can assist you with a range of recruitment and employee development needs and will refer you on to others who can help you further.

Vacancy Advertising
Whether it's a full-time graduate vacancy, part-time student job or work experience opportunity you can advertise your vacancy through the university Career Development Services' Career Zone online jobs board. Just register online and you can input your own vacancy details.  One of our staff will check the vacancy before publishing it and will come back to you with any queries.

Agencies - you are welcome to place up to 20 adverts a year free of charge.  Should you wish to use the facility more extensively there will be a small administrative charge.  Please contact Alyson Twyman on 029 2041 6333 to discuss this or e-mail careers@cardiffmet.ac.uk .

Careers Fairs and Events
Career Development Services arrange a number of fairs and events targeted at specific sectors or types of opportunity.  These include Teaching, Art & Design, part-time jobs, volunteering and work experience.  We also arrange for employers, voluntary organisations etc to promote their opportunities via exhibition stands.  If you would like to discuss ways of getting your message to students, contact our Careers Information Adviser catharrison@cardiffmet.ac.uk.

Work Experience Opportunities
Do you have important projects which could be well within the capabilities of a student from a relevant course or even a graduate? If you’d like to know more about how a placement could benefit your business please contact us.  We can discuss options for work experience linked to courses or arrange a subsidised GO Wales placement.

“Live Brief” projects
A number of our degree and postgraduate courses require their students to experience work on this type of “real-life” project and are constantly on the lookout for suitable subject material based on real-world issues.

Workforce Development and Business Support
Feel free to contact us if you wish to use us as a sounding board for your workforce development planning. We also work closely with Cardiff Metropolitan University Research & Enterprise Services who can provide information on other business support programmes available through the university.

GO Wales at Cardiff Metropolitan University
Go Wales is a Business Development Employability programme delivered by university careers services in Wales.  The programme is managed by the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales and sponsored by the Welsh Assembly Government with additional funding from the European Union Social Fund.

GO Wales Services to Employers
Contact us if you are seeking a high level Student or Graduate for part-time/full-time work and Graduate vacancies.  Advertise your vacancies on the national GO Wales website, all free of charge.

Follow the link for further details www.gowales.co.uk/ or telephone Career Development Services.

Go Wales can help eligible businesses to:-
  • Advertise vacancies  for part-time or full-time work for students or graduates free of charge via www.gowales.co.uk/
  • Take on a student or graduate for a work placement of approximately 10 weeks (most placements receive substantial subsidies)
  • Receive financial support towards the cost of professional development of graduates in your employment.
  • Arrange for students to attend a work "taster" with your company.  Students value opportunities for work tasters - short, flexible, unpaid opportunities to learn about an organisation or to work-shadow an individual job-holder to learn about the job/role. This type of opportunity really helps students with their career choice and helps companies to identify potential employees.

For more information on any of the GO Wales activities see www.gowales.co.uk/ or e-mail gowales@cardiffmet.ac.uk
