Information Systems
The Information Systems Department prepares students with the skills and knowledge to operate as successful Information Systems professionals within the ever changing world of modern Business and Management related Computing.
Links with industry are encouraged through guest lectures from local and national organisations, such as British Telecom (BT) and through research and enterprise activity.
A number of taught full-time and part-time programmes are offered including an MSc in Information Systems Management, BSc degrees in Business Information Systems, Software Development and International Information Systems Management. These programmes offer variations to cater for specialisations such as Multimedia, Web Development and Networks. We also offer Higher National Diplomas and Certificates (HND/HNC) in Computer Studies and Business Information Technology.
Our portfolio of programmes is continually updated to keep pace with the changing nature of Information Systems, with modules in Biometrics and Data Security and Forensics being the most recent additions.
The Department is also responsible for supporting Information Systems modules in degree programmes delivered by other Departments within the Cardiff School of Management, such as the MBA.
Staff are involved in various areas of research including Artificial Intelligence, Information Systems Development Methodologies, Notational Analysis Systems, Spreadsheet Risk Analysis. Doctorate study by research is also available in Information Systems related areas.
