Nick obtained his undergraduate degree at the University of Wolverhampton, his MSc at the University of Plymouth and his PhD at Cardiff University. He started working at Cardiff Metropolitan University in 2007 and is a Lecturer in the Department of Applied Psychology, a member of the British Psychological Society, a member of the Higher Education Academy and a committee member of the Welsh Branch of the British Psychological Society (formerly chair from October 2008 to October 2011).
Nick has worked on grants exploring ‘Implicit and explicit representation of probabilities in cognitive tasks’, ‘Office and call centre noise: Acoustic, cognitive and individual determinants of auditory distraction’, ‘A multi-agency community-based intervention to reduce excessive drinking in Cardiff city centre’, and ‘Attentional selectivity and semantic memory: Studies of auditory distraction’.
As well as his teaching duties, Nick is also joint Level 6 tutor, on the Cardiff School of Health Sciences ethics panel, a member of the Survey Request Group and organises the Research Participation Panel organiser in the Department of Applied Psychology.
