Profile

I joined UWIC in January 2009 with 12 years of working in the youth and community development sector, latterly as Director of the Ethnic Youth Support Team in Swansea.

I have a first degree in Human Psychology from Aston University, and an MA in Health and Community Development from De Montfort University, and a JNC professional qualification in Youth and Community Work.

I teach on a number of modules within the BA, PG Dip and MA Youth and community Work programmes including Anti-discriminatory and oppressive practice, Youth work in a global context, Research, and Community Practice. The areas that I am most interested and have researched include global perspectives and youth work, Black and Minority ethnic perspectives and contemporary youth religious identities.

I am currently studying for a PhD with Swansea University focusing on contemporary religious identities specifically that of young people who define themselves as LGB and Muslim.
