Alison Murphy is a former primary school teacher with experience of teaching in England and Wales both in the mainstream and special education sector. She has also worked in further education as well as lecturing at other higher educational establishments including Swansea University and the University of Glamorgan.
Alison obtained her masters degree in 1996 with research which focused on the social composition of special educational needs units in Birmingham. She is currently studying for a PhD and this is a study of children's perceptions of national identity in Wales. The aim of this research is to look at the issue of national identity and its construction and importance in the world of the young child.
