Accomodation
I don’t live locally, what about accommodation?
UWIC’s Accommodation Service is responsible for allocating places in University Halls of residence and helping students find privately rented accommodation. The Accommodation Service are available to help ALL students and are open throughout the year during normal office hours.
University accommodation is considered very economical, as all of your heating and lighting costs are included; so there are no surprise utility bills arriving every few months and all rooms have internet access.
Whilst priority is given to first year undergraduate students UWIC does have a number of houses and flats that are set aside for those returning to study at the Cyncoed, Howard Gardens and Colchester Avenue Campuses.
We also have some rooms available for disabled students. You should contact the Accommodation Service as early as possible so that they can make sure that specific provisions are in place before your arrival.
How do I apply for UWIC accommodation?
If you are interested in applying for UWIC Accommodation and haven’t already requested an application pack, please contact Accommodation Services and have the following information to hand:
- Full Name
- Permanent Address - including postcode
- GTTR Personal ID (if applicable)
- Telephone Number and Email Address
- Programme Title
You should complete the application form and return it with any requested documentation as soon as possible. Forms are date stamped upon receipt and the Accommodation Service will allocate places within halls of residence in date order and taking into consideration distance from Cardiff. Please note that priority is given to first year undergraduate students but our Accommodation Service can advise you further so it is worth getting in touch.

A Place to Live
What about finding private rented housing?
Some students prefer not to choose halls of residence, opting instead for shared accommodation in the private sector. UWIC’s Accommodation Service works very closely with an approved list of private landlords who have properties available for student letting.
Only responsible landlords who meet all legislative requirements and produce evidence of compliance are included on the UWIC landlord approved register.
http://www.cardiffdigs.co.uk/ in partnership with your university provides student housing advice and support. Offering information on accessing private rented accommodation, living out in the community and a one-stop-shop resource for student matters.
Do contact us first…
It is worth noting that whether you’re interested in halls of residence or renting a private property - we don’t charge you a fee. Please beware of the numerous commercial property letting agencies who charge for their services. UWIC’s Accommodation team offer a free, impartial, comprehensive accommodation finding service.
