The Cardiff School of Management is one of the main providers of tourism, hospitality and events education in the UK and is an active player in the higher education sector through our links with subject associations and professional bodies. The School also hosts the world-recognised Welsh Centre for Tourism Research.
Our graduates have entered the tourism, hospitality and events industry at every possible level across the public, private and voluntary sectors. Many of our graduates are now in senior management positions or running their own businesses and whilst the majority have remained in the UK, many work overseas. For graduates who wish to continue their study we offer MSc programmes in Tourism, Hospitality and Events Management, as well as PhDs and Professional Doctorates.
The tourism, hospitality and events industry is one the UK's fastest growing job creators. We have excellent links with tourism, hospitality and event businesses and support agencies in the UK and internationally. These links enhance industrial work experience and field study opportunities for our students. All our undergraduate degree programmes are accredited by the Institute of Hospitality - the professional body for managers working and studying in the hospitality, leisure and tourism industry.
As we value the importance of students gaining work experience in order to enhance their employability skills, our industrial work experience (IWE) module is a compulsory part of the tourism, hospitality and event programmes in the second year. Students have the opportunity to undertake IWE placements in the UK, rest of Europe or further afield, e.g. USA, New Zealand and Brunei.
