Malaysian Institute of Art
The President of the Malaysian Institute of Art (MIA), Dr Kam Kow Choong, has made an exciting visit to the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UWIC) which has resulted in the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with UWIC’s Cardiff School of Art & Design.

The Cardiff School of Art & Design (CSAD) has held an MOU with the Malaysian Institute of Art for the past ten years, which recognised the quality of the student’s art and design work and formed the basis of progression onto degree courses at UWIC.

With the previous contract having expired in 2007, Dr Choong’s recent visit to UWIC followed an initial investigative visit by Gareth Barham, senior lecturer and International Coordinator for CSAD to Malaysia, to develop UWIC’s existing relationship with the MIA in March of this year.

This new agreement will not only form the framework for a Malaysian student’s progression onto the degree courses in the Cardiff School of Art & Design, but it will also enable staff and student exchanges allowing exciting opportunities for both Malaysian and UWIC students to broaden their creative cultural horizons.
