UWIC in Top 5 for Research
The University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UWIC) has made it in to the top 5 UK universities in 3 key areas of the Higher Education Academy’s Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES) 2008.
PRES found the areas of Supervision, Intellectual Climate, and Skills Development at UWIC determined overall satisfaction with the research student experience.
An impressive 92% of UWIC’s researchers responded that supervisory support and guidance met or exceeded their expectations, one of the highest figures in the survey.
Professor Antony Chapman, Vice-Chancellor, UWIC congratulated all research supervisors, saying “This is a huge vote of confidence in the quality of UWIC’s research supervision, and is a clear demonstration of the commitment of our supervisors to providing students with an outstanding research experience”
On top of this, UWIC also came out in the top 10 Institutions in the UK for satisfaction with the overall experience.
The survey involved 72 Higher Education Institutions in the UK, including Imperial College, Oxford University, Warwick, Bristol, Cardiff and Edinburgh.
The PRES is the only national annual survey of postgraduate researchers’ satisfaction with their experiences and is designed to help institutions enhance the quality of postgraduate research degree provision by collecting feedback from current research students in a systematic and user-friendly way.
