Youngsters wave goodbye to nursery at graduation
IT IS the moment that every proud parent has been waiting for over the past few years – their child’s graduation ceremony.
And the annual event at the Day Nursery at the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UWIC) involves just as much planning, time and effort as the graduations that are about to take place around the country this Summer.
UWIC’s Nursery graduation ceremony sees three and four-year-olds dressed up in special red caps and gowns and collect their scrolls to celebrate their time at nursery and mark the fact they are about to make the big move to school in September.
Pauline Pritchard, manager at the Llandaff campus-based nursery, said: “It is a bitter sweet day for us. We have children who have been with us for three years and it tugs at the heart strings to see them going when they have been here for so long and we have watched their development and helped to prepare them for that next stage in their lives.
“Thank you to the parents who have been very supportive. They become a part of the UWIC family and I hope that they have looked at us as an extension of their family too.”
