International students enjoy special gathering at UWIC

STUDENTS from the other side of the world recently gathered at a special event organized and hosted by the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UWIC).

Postgraduate international students from the University of Botswana who are studying at various universities throughout the UK were invited to the one-day seminar at UWIC.

With the theme of Academic Challenges and Studying in UK Universities, visitors were able to share academic experiences and explore areas of academic collaboration, as well as establish an effective circle of support as Batswana in a foreign country and develop mechanisms of maintaining a working relationship between their sponsor and their institutions in the UK.

Magdeline Mannathoko, a PhD student at UWIC’s Cardiff School of Education who helped to organised the event, said: “This seminar was an important social re-union of young Batswana in a foreign country. Attendees would like to thank Professor Janet Laugharne (Director or Research and Postgraduate Studies) for helping the organisers with finding the venue and for giving them a very warm welcome.”

Students from all over the UK who originally come from Botswana recently met up at the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UWIC).
