Jane Hutt AM, Minister for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills will officially open the new Centre for Personal and Professional Development at the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UWIC) on Friday 31st October at 2pm.
The new centre will offer an extensive range of short courses designed to improve skills whether it’s pursuing an interest or gaining accredited qualifications to help improve a continuing professional development portfolio.
“We are delighted that Jane Hutt is demonstrating her support for our work through officially opening the new centre,” said Jen Evans, Administrator, Centre for Personal and Professional Development.
“The event will also provide us with a great opportunity to highlight our commitment to raising people’s aspirations and developing partnerships with employers and local communities,” she added.
The event will provide guests with an opportunity to meet the team and to sample a few of the short courses on offer including; Wine Tasting, Science of Chocolate, Music Production and Sports Massage.
The centre is also committed to widening participation in education and aims to ensure that people of any age, background or ethnic group are given a fair and equal opportunity to study in a supported manner.
It will also respond to market needs and therefore collaboration with business, public and voluntary organisations is a key part of the centre’s focus for course development and service delivery.
