UWIC celebrates award winning success
The University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UWIC) is celebrating a double whammy after scooping two prestigious marketing awards in the space of a week.
Firstly, the institute’s Creative Services team and Cardiff School of Art and Design gained international recognition for the design of the school’s prospectus after winning the Best Student Publication award, at the esteemed Association of Commonwealth Universities Annual Marketing and Communications awards.
Just a few days later, there was further success when the same team beat off strong competition from universities across the UK to win a highly-prized HEIST Bronze Award for Best Higher Education Prospectus, again for the design of the Cardiff School of Art and Design prospectus.
Pivotal to the success of the award-winning prospectus was the striking design of it’s front cover which featured a student’s artwork based on the objectification of women in advertising and which included a though-provoking close-up of the artist covered in sugar.

The team were presented with their HEIST award by Jeremy Vine, respected journalist and BBC TV and radio presenter at a celebratory event held at the Royal Courts of Justice in London.
Staged annually, the HEIST Awards programme celebrates excellence in education marketing and is held in high esteem across the sector.
