Maria Ash has been at UWIC since 2004 lecturing in the field of Human Resource Management and Organisational Studies. After completing her degree in Business at Cardiff University she worked in the finance sector and was self-employed for a number of years before returning to Cardiff University where she obtained a PGCE with Distinction.
Maria is currently the HRM Field Group Chair and has taught on a number of undergraduate and postgraduate modules within the CSM. She is currently the module leader for the MBA module International HRM, the level 3 module International and Comparative HRM and the level 2 module Equality and Diversity. Maria is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
She is a member of BUIRA, SRHE and the SW HE Network and, within the CSM, a member of the ‘Governance, Accountability and Social Justice (GA&SJ) research cluster and the higher education research centre (‘HERCULES’) within the Institute for Social Innovation. Maria’s research interests are in the field of critical management studies, gender studies and higher education management.
She has recently gained an ESRC recognised Postgraduate Diploma in Social Science Research Methods, awarded with Distinction, and is currently undertaking a PhD examining equality policies in higher education
