Claire is Head of Department and a Reader in Tourism and Management in the Department of Tourism, Hospitality and Events Management.  Claire supervises a number of PhD students and teaches a range of research skills and tourism modules across the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.  Claire is alos a memeber of the Executive Committee of the Association for Tourism in Higher Education (ATHE).

Claire is an active member of the Welsh Centre for Tourism Research  (WCTR) and was part of the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise in which the WCTR was found to be undertaking research of world leading 4* quality.  After finishing her PhD in 2002, Claire became a Senior Research Associate in the then Welsh School of Tourism, Hospitality and Leisure Management, with responsibility for a number of pedagogic research projects.  Claire then worked in the National Audit Office, on projects involving the Department of Culture, Media and Sport.  She has also worked on commissioned research projects for the Tourism Training Forum for Wales, Capital Region Tourism, Visit Wales, People 1st and Adventa. 

Claire’s diverse research interests include Sense of Place, destination development, tourism SMEs, business and event tourism, labour market and human resource issues in the tourism, hospitality and events sector.
