Darryl lectures on a variety of hospitality related topics including Licensed Premises, Food and Beverage Service and the Sociology of Tourism, Hospitality and Events. My research interests are concerned with the construction and delivery of hospitable experiences. My PhD research is a specific investigation of the motivations and perceptions of staff working in the food and beverage sector of the hospitality industry. This involves the gendered, sexual and physical nature of service work together with an exploration of the implications of emotional and aesthetic labour, natural hospitableness and the guest/host interface for hospitable experiences.
