Asif Zaman is a Fellow of The Higher Education Authority. He is a full-time Senior Lecturer in Islamic Finance, Strategy and International Business at Cardiff School of Management.
He is an AAOIFI (Accounting and Auditing Organisation for Islamic Finance Institutions) compliant CIFE (Certified Islamic Finance Executive).
In 2004 after completing his MBA at Cardiff School of Management, Cardiff Metropolitan University, he worked with industry professionals in the financial sector for commercial and private lending and also successfully ran his own financial consultancy enterprise.

Prior to joining UWIC he worked for a number of years as a full time university lecturer in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Where he developed and taught business and management subjects such as Project Management Professional (PMP certification course), Principles of Management, Business Ethics, Leadership and Teamwork, Time Management, and Ethical Awareness. He was responsible for mentoring and tutoring students from a range of nationalities, age and working backgrounds.
His other interests include playing squash, reading political / financial issues and also interested in Islamic finance. He also enjoys piloting light aircraft as a leisure activity with friends & family. He is an experienced private pilot who has operated a number of aircrafts.
Research Interests / Professional Development:
Finacial Management, Islamic Finance, Project Management, Strategic Management. Asif is currently persuing a P/T PhD in the field of banking and finance and is investigating Determinants of Stock Market Returns: Evidence from the Emerging Stock Exchanges of the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC). He is also working towards gaining his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) professional qualification.
